The 2016 general election day is finally here.

Tuesday, Nov. 8 is officially election day and according to the Secretary of State’s office nearly 2.1 million votes have already been cast in Washington state, which is a 48 percent return rate. In King County, nearly 600,000 ballots, or 46.4 percent, have been returned.

Ballots need to be post marked by today or taken to a ballot drop box by 8 p.m. Those submitted to a ballot drop box after 8 p.m. will not be counted.

Several important measures and seats are on the ballot this year other than the national race for President. In Washington state, governor, United States senator and 1st District congressional representative, are all on the ballot.

Locally, many state representative seats and a state senate seat are on the ballot, along with local measures.

To find a ballot drop box to submit your vote, go here.

The Kirkland Reporter will have the first results from local races when they are released by election officials after 8:15 p.m. and will update those results in the coming days.
