Whether families celebrate Easter with Jesus or simply enjoy Easter bunny photos and a good egg hunt, there are plenty of ways to celebrate this spring holiday in Kirkland.

Here are just a few of the events taking place this weekend.
April 18
Good Friday Labyrinth Walk
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
St. John’s Episcopal Church, 105 State St. S. in Kirkland.
The St. John’s Episcopal Church is hosting an indoor labyrinth – the word means a complicated irregular network of passages or paths in which it is difficult to find one’s way. The walk will be in Marsh Hall and will be a “quiet space of insight, contemplation and meditation.” Although the event ends at 3 p.m., 2:40 p.m. will be the last opportunity for people to enter before it closes. There will also be an outdoor labyrinth painted on the State Street Courtyard. The outdoor one does not have a time restriction but should also be treated as a place for reflection and meditation.

The Power of the Cross
10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Kirkland Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6400 108th Ave. NE in Kirkland.
A Mark Hayes Musical presentation, The Power of the Cross is the third of a four part concert series. The musical will express “Christ’s passion, our redemption” as it depicts the eight final events of Jesus’s life on earth through narration, orchestration and choral music. It will be directed by Estyn Goss and is a free event.

Easter Egg Hunt

Lake Washington United Methodist Church, 7525 132nd Ave. NE in Kirkland.
The Lake Washington United Methodist Church will host an Easter egg hunt for families. A bouncy house, games, snacks and eggs are available for children 6 months old to those in fifth grade. Families should bring baskets for egg collecting, an umbrella for potential rain, friends, family and fun to this free event.

Easter Singles Church and Luncheon
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. mingle, 1:30 – 3 p.m. luncheon

Milagro Cantina, 148 Lake St. S. in Kirkland
Religious and non-religious singles are invited to meet others at an Easter service before gathering at Milagro Cantina for Easter lunch. There will be private seating and great conversation over Latin food. The event is open for singles to bring their children. Mingling at the church starts at 11 a.m. before the service at the main lobby. Church officials request everyone is on time and to contact Renessa Rios’s business line at 425-780-1310 before 11:15 a.m. if late to the service. Kiwanis Club of Kirkland Easter Egg Hunt
1:30 p.m.
Peter Kirk Park, 202 Third St. in Kirkland.
In celebration of the 39th annual Easter egg hunt, Kirkland Kiwanis Club members will scatter 15,000 chocolate eggs around Peter Kirk Park. Children ages 1-4 years old may search for eggs in the playground area. Children ages 5-7 can search for eggs in the outfield of the baseball field and children ages 8-12 are bound to searching for eggs on the west side of QFC.
“When it is finished, it’s like a street sweeper has gone through the area,” said Kiwanis member Don Ross in a news release.
The Kiwanis club Easter egg hunt is the longest running egg hunt in Kirkland and is free to the public. The event will also include local high school Key Club members dressed in bunny and duck costumes to add to the fun.
