Driver with gunshot wound crashes car rushing to hospital in Kirkland

A man with a gunshot wound accidentally crashed his car into a rock wall as he rushed himself to the hospital in Kirkland on Monday night.

A man with a gunshot wound accidentally crashed his car into a rock wall as he rushed himself to the hospital in Kirkland on Monday night.

Kirkland firefighters responded to the accident at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Monday in the 12300 block of Juanita Drive NE.

“Apparently, he was driving himself to the hospital after, he told crews, he had accidentally shot himself in the leg,” said Mike Haschak, Kirkland Fire Department battalion chief, noting that the man’s car struck the wall with moderate impact.

Fire crews from Kirkland, Shoreline and Redmond treated the man at the scene and Shoreline Medic Unit 65 transported him to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.
