Domestic violence suspect arrested after he flees scene and tracked by K-9 unit

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.

Between June 3-9, the Kirkland Police Department reported 688 traffic violations (seven DUIs), 28 alarm calls, 35 car accidents, 32 noise complaints, 17 thefts, nine car prowls, 11 domestic violence calls, 12 calls for harassment, five acts of fraud, 13 calls of a disturbance, six calls for illegal substances and 23 calls of civil disturbance. At least 42 people were arrested.

June 9

Disorderly conduct: 12:22 a.m., 8500 block of N.E. 135th St. A 21-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction after being kicked out of a party and punching a car. The man’s brother was also arrested for failure to obey police after he fled from the scene in a car.

June 8

Domestic: 9 p.m., 11600 block of N.E. 95th St. A 16-year-old Kirkland girl called police to report that her parents were constantly yelling at her for doing things wrong. The parents were contacted and they explained that the girl does not follow the rules of the house, has a GED and won’t get a job. All agreed to separate for the evening.

Theft: 1:04 p.m., 8629 120th Ave. N.E. Two teenagers were arrested after attempting to steal T-shirts and two pairs of jeans from Costco.

June 7

Domestic: 6:50 p.m., 12000 block of 96th Ave. N.E. A 32-year-old Kirkland man called police to report that his live-in girlfriend was intoxicated and throwing household items at him. The woman also allegedly pushed and slapped the man. The woman was arrested.

Warrant arrest: 3:42 p.m., 11900 block of N.E. 81st Cir. A 31-year-old Kirkland man was contacted at a family member’s house as an unwanted suspect and found to have a warrant for theft out of Seattle.

Theft: 7 p.m., 10020 N.E. 137th St. A 52-year-old man took a 12 pack of beer from Safeway without paying for it. The man was also served a no trespass order for a prior theft and was arrested.

June 6

Minor, liquor violation: 12:02 a.m., 11000 98th Ave. N.E. A 19-year-old Lake Forest Park man was arrested for possessing alcohol.

June 5

Assault: 12:12 a.m., 8500 122nd Ave. N.E. An Everett woman reported that her husband assaulted her in the parking lot of Valhalla. The man was contacted by police via phone and dispatchers triangulated his location as he had fled the scene. A K-9 unit tracked the man down near an I-405 on ramp and arrested him.

Warrant arrest: 11:52 a.m., 10400 block of N.E. 116th St. Two men got into an argument and were yelling loudly. A neighbor called police and both men were found to have warrants out for their arrest.

Assault: 12: p.m., 11900 block of 93rd Ave. N.E. A 37-year-old Kirkland man grabbed, pushed and slapped his wife during an altercation. The man was arrested for domestic violence assault.

June 4

Assault: 2:13 a.m., 200 Central Way. A 22-year-old man was arrested after he hit another man in the head and knocked him unconscious.

June 3

Theft: 2:40 p.m., 11224 N.E. 124th St. A 57-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for stealing a beer and a sandwich from QFC.

Traffic offense: 4:34 p.m., 900 Lake St. S. A 48-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after rear-ending another car.
