Darling receives national leadership award

Cascadia Community College student Janet Darling, a resident of Kirkland, was recently awarded the National Excellence in Leadership Award by Sigma Alpha Pi, the National Society of Leadership and Success.

“Janet possesses a strong work ethic, persistence, and a can-do attitude and is entirely deserving of this award. She is a great representation of Cascadia’s commitment to developing student leaders and giving back to the community. I wish her continued success,” said Ana Blackstad, staff advisor for Cascadia’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Darling actively participated in leadership video conferences and Success Networking Team meetings, where Society members provided peer coaching around achieving personal and professional goals. Part of her recognition also resulted from a community service project where she helped produce a concert in honor of Black History Month. Darling coordinated logistics with the venue and performers and managed production on the night of the concert.
