Construction updates | Third Street, 116th Ave. N.E.

The entrance to Kirkland Square from Third Street is closed to vehicles for approximately one week and customers should continue to use the main entrance from Central Way. During this time, the sidewalk between Park Lane and Central Way adjacent to Kirkland Square will remain open to pedestrians for the majority of the week and flaggers will assist pedestrians past the driveway while the work is being performed.

A new truck load/unload area opened on Central Way west of the intersection at Third Street and adjacent to the Subway/Market on Central. The truck load/unload area is being provided to assist businesses with deliveries during construction. This may also help keep the Central Way entrance to Kirkland Square clear by providing a new loading area and discouraging the use of the center turn lane by trucks that often block left turn access. Kirkland Square tenants and other nearby businesses are asked to direct their deliveries to this new area.

While difficult at times, the Sound Transit construction team has done their best to maintain pedestrian and vehicular access through and around the active construction site when possible and for as long as possible to minimize construction impacts. Please support local businesses near the Kirkland Transit Center site during construction.

116th Ave. N.E. sidewalks

Kamins Construction is working with the City of Kirkland to construct the 116th Ave. N.E. sidewalk in the Highlands neighborhood.

The project includes installation of approximately 1,900 feet of concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, and street trees along the east side of 116th Avenue N.E. from the existing sidewalk at N.E. 94th Place, heading north and connecting to existing sidewalk at N.E. 100th Street.

In order to complete the project as efficiently as possible, the contractor will be restricting parking along the roadway. No-parking signs will be posted 24 hours in advance of all parking restrictions. During construction, there may be inconvenience associated with driving through the work zone; traffic control and flagging operations will be in effect. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout the construction process.

Construction completion is anticipated in May. Typical hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
