Last night, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office initiated the pursuit of a stolen vehicle in south Snohomish County, which ended a short time later in Kirkland.

The incident began around 8 p.m. when a patrol deputy spotted an occupied stolen Toyota Tacoma truck pulling out of the Fred Meyer at 164th and Alderwood Mall Blvd.

The pursuit was initiated after the driver refused to pull over. Spike strips were deployed, which the driver avoided, and a “PIT” maneuver was attempted, which spun the truck out. However, the truck took off from that location driving northbound on the southbound lanes of I-405.  For safety reasons, the pursuit was terminated at that point.

When the vehicle was spotted by Washington State Patrol exiting I-405 at Totem Lake in Kirkland, troopers and a deputy re-engaged the pursuit. The deputy performed a “PIT” maneuver, which forced the truck into a ditch. The male driver and female passenger were taken into custody and sent to Evergreen Hospital for precautionary reasons, but did not sustain any injuries.

The driver is a 33 year-old Everett man male who was booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, theft, attempting to elude police, parole violations and reckless endangerment.

The passenger is a 36 year-old Wenatchee woman who was booked into jail by State Patrol for driving with a suspended license.
