Bellevue Community College student from Kirkland wins national honor

Bellevue College’s student newspaper, The Jibsheet, has won a national Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) for the quality of its online edition.

Luke Eden, of Kirkland, was the Jibsheet’s online editor, webmaster and graphic designer at the time of the judging. Elizabeth Ballinger, of North Bend, was Editor-in-Chief and Stephen King, of Woodinville, served as managing editor.

Janelle Gardner, of Seattle, is the Jibsheet’s faculty adviser.

The Jibsheet’s online version can be viewed at www.thejibsheet.com.

More than 220 four-year and two-year colleges entered the annual ACP Online Pacesetter competition this year. The sites were judged on integration of multimedia and user-generated content; navigability; breadth of coverage, including in-depth reporting, design and news judgment.
