The Kirkland Tourism Program announces the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee’s (LTAC) Funding Request Application for 2011. This year, the LTAC has made $40,000 available for 2011 funding. The group is looking to fund programs and events that enhance Kirkland as a destination. Interested applicants can request an application by e-mailing tourism@ci.kirkland.wa.us. A hard copy is also available on the City of Kirkland Web site at www.ci.kirkland.wa.us/tourism. Applications are due by 5 p.m. June 30. Fund will be available by January, 2011.
Kirkland’s Tourism Program has been in operation since 2002. During that time, over two hundred forty thousand dollars has funded local events and programs.
The goal of the Tourism Program is to attract visitors to Kirkland, both for overnight stays and daytrips. Overnight stays not only improve the tourist environment of Kirkland; their revenues sustain the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) budget. Day-trippers frequent Kirkland’s unique offering of shopping, quality restaurants, and galleries and thereby assure the economic vitality of these enterprises and the livelihood of Downtown Kirkland and other business districts. Applicants must demonstrate that their event attracts an audience from outside of Kirkland.
