Kirkland church to ring bell to observe anniversary of Orlando shooting

At noon on Monday, the Kirkland Congregational United Church of Christ at 106 5th Ave. will chime 49 times to observe the anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting last year in Orlando, Fla.

Each chime will signify those who died in the shooting.

The public is invited to gather on the front patio of the church for prayer, a reading of the names of the 49 people who were killed in this attack on Orlando’s LGBTQ community.

The church is joining with members of the Greater Kirkland Ecumenical Parish and churches across the nation to publicly remember the victims of this crime and to publicly support members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.
