This morning I received a flyer on my doorstep from the 45th District Democrats that endorsed certain candidates for Kirkland City Council. I am a Democrat but I have to say shame on you 45th District Democrats for endorsing Kirkland City Council candidates in an election that is supposed to be non-partisan. But more importantly, shame on you for endorsing candidates who will not bring any change to Kirkland– change that is so vitally needed. Our current council is dysfunctional and you have endorsed one candidate who is a clone of the present mayor, another candidate who makes disparaging remarks about our citizens and who was disciplined for misconduct by disclosing private documents to a citizen’s group who had no right to them, and another candidate who has absolutely no experience. You have done us a great disservice and should be ashamed of yourselves.

Those of us (Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike) who want positive change for Kirkland, who want a city council who respect each other and our citizens, who have the experience and the qualifications necessary to make good decisions, and who can work together for the good of all of Kirkland will be voting for Penny Sweet, Amy Walen, Doreen Marchione and Joan McBride.
