Larry Springer works across the aisle | Letter

Listening to all the rhetoric of the campaign season you would be led to believe every candidate relentlessly works across the political aisle and is the model of bipartisanship. Frankly, I doubt it.

Listening to all the rhetoric of the campaign season you would be led to believe every candidate relentlessly works across the political aisle and is the model of bipartisanship. Frankly, I doubt it.

However there is a candidate I know very well who truly does live up to that hype.

Rep. Larry Springer has spent his whole career solving real problems for his constituents which nearly always requires working with people on every side of important issues. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Ask his Republican colleagues from eastern Washington if he works with them on critical issues for their districts. As the myriad special interest groups in Olympia if Larry seeks them out when legislation is proposed.

Or, listen to what the Seattle Times said about Rep. Springer when they endorsed him for the 5th straight election.

”Larry Springer… shows strong independence. Springer’s deliberate style should be a model of legislative demeanor. He has earned respect… among Democratic and Republican colleagues in Olympia,” the Seattle Times stated in its endorsement.

In this era of hyper partisanship it is good to know we can rely on Larry to rise above it and actually work for real solutions to serious issues like K-12 education funding, transportation, higher education funding, and assuring we have an effective safety net for the least fortunate in Washington.

Let’s reelect Larry Springer.
