Disappointed the Reporter overlooked accomplishment | Letter

I am writing to share my deep disappointment for your decision to overlook the Kirkland American Coast Indians’ accomplishment that they had an undefeated season.

I am writing to share my deep disappointment for your decision to overlook the Kirkland American Coast Indians’ accomplishment that they had an undefeated season. I had shared with the parents and coaches to watch for the upcoming Kirkland Reporter as I had submitted the details that would allow you to publish this amazing and historical event. I was excited to hear, and sad for the reputation of the Reporter, that parents would “open it for the first time … because there was now a reason!”

Unfortunately, when they opened up the Reporter and there was no mention of this incredible feat these boys have accomplished this season, you, the Kirkland Reporter, cemented a decision in many of your readerships’ minds: “There is no need to open [the paper], because there is nothing relevant to me and my life.” And sadly for both you and I, it made an impression of “why bother sharing amazing Kirkland community-impacting events when they aren’t going to be appreciated and addressed by the vary medium/media that could and should be addressing them?”

I hope that you actually read this letter slowly embracing every word and will take to heart that you missed an incredible opportunity to touch your readership and the hearts and minds of many outside of this community by highlighting an amazing and historical season of hard work, perseverance, team work and staying power – everything the world and businesses are crying out for. And yet this is not of interest to the Kirkland Reporter.

Sad and disappointed Kirkland resident of 21 years.
