Simon Giloi, a home-schooled sophomore from Redmond, spent a week at the Capitol working as a page for the Washington State Senate. He was sponsored by Sen. Andy Hill of Kirkland’s 45th Legislative District.

The Senate Page Program is an opportunity for Washington students to spend a week working in the Legislature. Pages are responsible for such tasks as presenting the flag, running errands and delivering mail. They spend time in the Senate Chamber and in page school learning about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process. Giloi was one of 14 students who participated in the program during the tenth week of the 2011 legislative session.

“There aren’t too many states that have an equivalent to our page program. It offers a firsthand opportunity to learn about state government,” said Hill. “I’m glad Simon was able to take advantage of it.”

Giloi is the son of Claus and Theresa Giloi of Redmond.
