LW’s Heenan defeats familiar foe in KingCo finals

Logan Heenan defeated his LW teammate Elijah Lux 13-1 in the title matchup in 126-pound category.

The KingCo 3A wrestling tournament 126-pound championship match featured two wrestlers from the same school facing off.

Lake Washington’s Logan Heenan defeated his LW teammate Elijah Lux 13-1 in the title matchup between 126-pound grapplers on Saturday at North Creek High School. Heenan knew Lux would be one of his toughest opponents of the season to date.

“Going into this tournament my biggest challenge was (Lux) because he is a bigger guy (Lux previously competed in the 132-pound weight class) and I know he is a skilled wrestler. I knew if I could knock him off the list, it would be good for me coming into regionals,” Heenan said. “We always knew we were kind of close (in wrestling skill level). It was an exciting match because we both kind of thought we would meet up here (in the finals).”

Heenan is looking forward to the regional tournament taking place Friday and Saturday.

“I have attended regionals my sophomore and junior year and didn’t perform very well. If I can come out with a couple of pins, and even if I don’t necessarily make it to state as a senior, it will be fine. I’m just trying to get in as many matches as I can,” he said.
