Volunteerism comes to Kirkland | Letter

Viva Volunteers! is presented by the Kirkland Senior Council from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Peter Kirk Community Center, 352 Kirkland Ave. Come learn about volunteer opportunities in Kirkland and nearby communities for adults, families and school age youth searching ways to complete a service project or make that difference and give back.

Many people think about volunteering, but finding the “right fit” can be challenging and time consuming. Viva Volunteers is the perfect venue to shorten the lag time and discover the passion inside you waiting for self-expression. Assembled for you will be more than 20 organizations showcasing their programs and opportunities for you to get involved. Spend a couple hours and discover how you can be the difference and contribute your unique skills. Pet care, health care, home building, emergency preparedness, food banks, parks and community events, children interaction — these may be just a few ways to become a valuable resource for others.

Volunteering benefits not only the community buy offers you an opportunity for personal growth, to feel good about helping; it connects you to the fabric of community, you participate in an experience that adds to your depth and resume. It is sure to expand your awareness of how organizations get things done. Extensive research has shown that being a volunteer is most often beneficial to your health.
