Rebels finish ninth at state

The Juanita girls swim team had a big year, with 42 girls under new coach Patrick Monson (named Kingco 3A coach of the year) who finished their season undefeated (beating Inglemoor, Eastlake, Redmond, Interlake, Sammamish, Bothell and Lake Washington).

They also finished ninth in state last weekend.

All three relays qualified for state; the Medley relay started off the meet with Tess Farley ’13, Kenzie Harder ’15, Miranda Sage ’14 and Anna Michel ’13.

The Lady Rebels are currently seeded 2nd in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:42.50. The 200 Free Relay is made up of Anna Michel ’13, Kayla DiMicco ’14, Julia Andersson ’16 and Allie Knerr ’16.

The 400 Free Relay is also in a top spot currently seeded 4th with a time of 3:43.30. The 400 Free Relay consists of Julia Andersson ’16, Tess Farley ’13, Anna Michel ’13, and Kayla DiMicco ’14.

Juanita girls swimming continued its strong showing in the individual races as well, led by junior Kayla DiMicco (ranked 7th in 100 Fly, and 8th in 1 Meter Diving); Senior Tess Farley, ranked 10th in 100 Backstroke, and Freshman Julia Andersson (ranked 9th in 200 freestyle, and 13th in 500 freestyle).

Seniors captains Tess Farley and Anna Michel cap off a highly successful Juanita swimming career. Tess has made State in the 100 back in each of her four years. Anna qualified for state in the 50 freestyle and is a key relay contributor to three of the seeded relays for Juanita.
