Playing with no substitutes but with characteristic Highlander heart, the Providence Classical Christian School (PCCS) girls’ basketball team fell prey to the Grace Academy Eagles, 39-18, Saturday afternoon in Marysville.

Although Providence led 5-4 at the end of the first quarter, Grace applied an effective full court press to take a lead in the second quarter, which they would not relinquish.

Junior Reyna Lacalli of Seattle led the Highlanders in scoring with 15 points, followed by senior Katie Adair, Woodinville, with three points.

“The girls got some good shots today, but nothing was going in,” said Providence athletic director and substitute coach Nathan Morris. “This is our first year of having a girl’s basketball team. I am encouraged because they continue to improve and play together as a team and are having fun.”
