Northwest University’s Lauren Patefield named defensive Player of the Week

No one had a busier week in goal than NU’s Lauren Patefield and she was recognized for her efforts by being named the Red Lion Cascade Conference Defensive Player of the Week and announced by the league office.

Patefield, a junior from Puyallup, Wash., totaled 25 saves in three close games last week, all overtime contests and 306 minutes of play. She made six saves to preserve the shutout in the 0-0 overtime tie with Hope International in Fullerton, Callif., and 13 saves in the 1-0 overtime loss to Antelope Valley in Lancaster, Calif.

Lauren made two key saves early in overtime to allow the golden goal to be scored in the extra period in the Eagles’ 2-1 overtime win over Trinity Lutheran on Sunday. She averaged 8.33 saves per game averaging 103 minutes and allowing only .67 goals per game.
