Arsenio Walker scored the golden goal five-minutes, 29-seconds into overtime, as Corban edged Northwest University (NU), 2-1, to win the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships final on Saturday and advance to the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championships. Corban finishes their season with a 12-7-1 record while NU completes the year at 15-5.
NU scored first as Todd Siedenburg scored on a penalty kick in the sixth minute to put the Eagles up 1-0. Corban score the equalizer at the 37:39 mark when Eliso Santana finished with a hard shot past the NU goalkeeper off a pass and assist from Daniel Fredrickson.
Walker then scored the game winner in the 96th minute as he took James Williamson’s cross through the box and one touch finished into the lower right corner of the goal.
Steve Mason earned the win for Corban making five saves in goal while Daniel Christenson saved six Corban shots on goal.
