Northwest U defeats Pacific in straight sets | College women’s volleyball

The Northwest University (NU) volleyball team made quick work of their match with Pacific University, as they defeated the Boxers in straight sets, 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-11) in their home opener tonight in the NU Pavilion.

It took the Eagles one hour and 20 minutes as their defense forced 20 Pacific errors while committing just seven of their own. NU’s front wall blocked 12 Pacific kill attempts.

Leading the way for Northwest U (4-2) was Amanda Waterman with eight kills and six digs. Morgan Pilon lead the team with a match high 18 assists while freshman Emmaline Stockton finished with 13 digs. NU hit .262 as a team. Leia Roy and Alysanne Van Dyke each had two service aces for the Eagles.

For Pacific University (0-1), Tiare Kaopua led the way with 10 kills and teammate Lia Zablan had 10 defensive digs. The NU defense held Pacific to -.080 hitting as a team.

NU will open Cascade Conference play this weekend as they travel to Portland to play Warner Pacific and conference newcomer, Multnomah on Sept. 4 and 5.
