The Kangs volleyball team showed steady improvement against Issaquah Wednesday, despite losing to the 4A KingCo power 3-0.

Lake Washington looked like they would get blown out of the building during the first game, as they lost 25-7. The Kangs improved the second time around, nearly doubling their first-game point total with a 25-13 loss.

Lake Washington showed some fight facing the threat of being shutout. But the power of the Eagles’ hitters was too much for the Kangs, as they lost 25-18.

Lake Washington was led by setter Riley Sorenson, who compiled 35 assists during the contest. Three Kang players registered double digits in kills, Stephanie Stoll (11), Alyssa Schultz (10) and Sarah Hanna (10). Alexa Batquin (11) and Rachel Roeder (10) led the team on defense in digs.

Lake Washington has not won a match this season during its four in-league contests. The Kangs will try for their first win at 7 p.m. on Monday at Woodinville High School.
