LW scores two in bottom of seventh to beat Juanita, 2-1, in baseball action

Lake Washington and Juanita took their 3A KingCo baseball game down to the wire on Thursday.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh, LW scored two runs — the game-winner on a I-Ly Hsue walkoff sacrifice squeeze bunt — to pull out the 2-1 victory at home at Lee Johnson Field. Ricky Koishida scored the deciding run.

Also in the LW seventh, Caleb Rickels singled to score Brayden Boyes.

LW had three hits — the others by Nick Anderson and Travis Lee — two of which came in the seventh.

Juanita scored its run in the sixth on a Carter Rusch double to plate Jayson Schroeder.

The Rebels tallied eight hits, including two each from Rusch and Tanner Peterson, and one each from Schroeder, Kyle Taylor, Eddie Owen and Connor Riedel.

LW starter Oliver Laufman pitched six and one-third innings, and Rudy Wilkes hurled the final two-thirds of an inning to get the win.

For Juanita, Rusch pitched six and one-third innings and took the loss. Juanita’s Spencer Nokes made nine plays in the field and the Rebels had no errors.
