LW baseball pounds Oregon team, splits two more

The Lake Washington baseball team has gone 2-1 during its last three games. The team traveled to Oregon on March 16 and defeated Lebanon High School, 8-1 behind the pitching of Zach Johnson.

The Lake Washington baseball team has gone 2-1 during its last three games. The team traveled to Oregon on March 16 and defeated Lebanon High School, 8-1 behind the pitching of Zach Johnson.

The Kangs gave Johnson, who went four innings and collected six strikeouts, plenty of support. The team scored four runs during the first inning and never looked back. Both Shawn Gray and Theo Alexander had three RBI, while Victor Mayorquin scored three times. Gray, Mayorquin and Jordan LaFave collected three hits each.

The Kangs followed the out-of-state victory with a 9-6 win against Skyview on Saturday. Jeremy Parkhurst led Lake Washington with two RBI, while Nick Johnson, Theo Alexander and Tyler Amundsen all knocked in a run. Johnson got the victory on the mound.

The Kangs lost an extra-inning heartbreaker to Garfield on Monday, 7-6, in nine. The Kangs jumped out to an early 4-0 lead during the top of the first inning but Garfield clawed back with two during the bottom of the inning and two more during the fourth. The Kangs took the lead during the top of the ninth with two runs but Garfied overcame the deficit during the bottom of the inning with three runs, including a walk-off double, for the win. Alexander led the Kangs with two RBI while Nick Johnson went 3-for-4.

The Juanita baseball team lost to Graham-Kapowsin during a preseason meeting 6-0 Monday at Graham-Kapowsin High School.
