Lake Washington tops Juanita in all-Kirkland volleyball matchup | Prep Report | Slideshow

In an all-Kirkland Kingco league volleyball match between Lake Washington and Juanita on Tuesday night, the Kangs swept the Rebels 3-0 on their home court. Lake Washington took an early lead in each of the first two games, winning handily 25-15, 25-15 before Juanita, bolstered by outside hitter Sarah Brennan's game-high 13 kills, made a run at the Kangs in game three before falling 25-23.

For the Kangs, Maddie Lind led the offense with eight kills and Dana Hassert had five service aces as their team improved to 3-3 in league play and 5-3 overall, while the Rebels dropped to 1-5 (1-6).

 

Kang tennis sweeps Mount Si

The Lake Washington boys’ tennis team did not give up a set in a 7-0 sweep of Mount Si on Tuesday afternoon.

Winning in straight sets in singles were Arash Hafizi (def. Josh Hamann 6-0, 6-0), Connor Ross (def. Matt Griffin 6-0, 6-0), Jeremy Sacks (def. Kevin McLaughlin, 6-0, 6-0) and Tristan Jimenez (def. Allen Reid 6-0, 6-1).

In doubles, Fergy Lu and Brooks Klinker (6-1, 6-3), Colby Harris and Tristan Cullop (6-2, 6-1) and A.J. Muenz and Chris Brumley (6-4, 6-1) each won their matches.

 

LW golfers rout Liberty

Playing at Bellevue Golf Course, the Lake Washington team all went low against Liberty in a 191-241 rout.

All five of the leaderboard spots were occupied by Kangs, led by Steve Hopkins who earned medalist honors with a 2-over 37.

Also shooting well were Josh Parker (39), Nathan Aschbacher (40), Seth Somers (41) and Kieran Doyle and Pete Chautavipat (42).
