The Lake Washington High School boys basketball team collapsed Friday night during the final eight minutes of play against the Islanders, 51-40, on Mercer Island.
The two teams played a competitive first half as Mercer Island took a seven point lead into the third quarter. But Lake Washington played strong defense after halftime, going on a 12-5 run to tie the game.
Mercer Island took control during the fourth quarter and pushed the pace, scoring 23 fourth-quarter points to win the game.
Kelly Guy was the top scorer for the Kangs, finishing with 15 points.
