After a season of battling for a top spot, the Lake Washington boys team finished with the No. 1 seed going into next week’s KingCo tournament.
The Kangs beat Mount Si 61-42 on Friday in the final game of the regular season. After Mercer Island beat Bellevue on Friday night, the Kangs were able to move into the top spot. Against the Wildcats, the Kangs were tied at the end of the first 12-12, followed by another 12-12 tied second quarter. In the third Lake Washington surged, hitting 15 points, while holding Mount Si to eight, followed by a 22-10 fourth quarter to win the game. Kelly Guy added eight, while Cody Bernstein posted three and Marcus Giovacchini and Mike Hanson had two points. The Kangs will play their first KingCo game on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Bellevue College. They will take on the winner of the Sammamish Liberty game, which happens Monday night. The Kangs will play at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner of that game goes on to play for the KingCo title, while a loss would move the team to play for third/fourth place. |
