Lake Washington blows past Lakewood, 9-0 | Prep girls’ soccer

Freshman Jen Estes tallied a brace and an assist as the Lake Washington High girls' soccer team won it's first nonconference match of the season, 9-0, over Lakewood on Sept. 10 at Mac Field in Kirkland.

Freshman Jen Estes tallied a brace and an assist as the Lake Washington High girls’ soccer team won it’s first nonconference match of the season, 9-0, over Lakewood on Sept. 10 at Mac Field in Kirkland.

The Kangaroos (1-0-1) scored three times in the first five minutes, and led 7-0 at halftime.

Anna Henderson assisted Megan Lynch in the first minute of the game, followed by two quick goals from Estes assisted by Carly Betterman and Lynch, respectively.

Haimanot Hanson, Megan McCarthy and Sakura Yoshida also scored in the first half. Carlee Betterman, Henderson and Natalie Vetto added goals in the second half.

Henderson finished with two assists. Ella Ludwig, Kelli McCarthy and Yoshida also assisted on a goal.

The Kangs score 18 goals last season, including two playoff matches, and have 10 goals through the first two matches of this season.

Estes scored on an assist from Betterman in the season opener against Bishop Blanchet on Sept. 2, and leads the team with three goals.

Next, Lake Washington is scheduled to open conference play against Interlake at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Mac Field.
