The Lake Washington High School baseball team defeated Mercer Island, 6-1, on Monday in Kirkland.

The Kangs took an early 2-0 lead during the bottom of the first but the Islanders cut it in half during the top of the second. However, the rest of the game was all Lake Washington , as they scored four more runs and shut down the Islander offense.

Connor Johnson earned the win from the mound by throwing five innings, giving up one earned run, walking four and striking out one.

Lake Washington will host Interlake at 4 p.m. on Friday.
