Lake Washington baseball and softball teams register playoff victories

Nation Wood slammed a pair of homers and Lake Washington blanked Interlake, 10-0, in a loser-out 3A KingCo baseball tournament game on May 8 at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue.

LW will next face Metro’s Eastside Catholic in a winner-to-state game at 1 p.m. May 11 at Bannerwood. The loser will be finished for the season.

Also for the Kangs against Interlake, Ricky Koishida had two singles and two RBIs, Travis Lee had two singles, Jose Vizcarra had an RBI single and Torin Montgomery and Jesus Vizcarra had doubles. Jesus added an RBI.

SOFTBALL

Lake Washington tallied five runs in the top of the seventh inning en route to an 8-4 victory over Juanita in the 3A KingCo softball tournament on May 8 at Inglemoor High.

LW will take on Bellevue in the title game at 6 p.m. May 10 at Inglemoor. Juanita will face Interlake at 8 p.m. for a spot in the 3A Sea-King District tournament. The top three teams advance.

For LW against Juanita, Lilly Bean and Jane Wilson had three hits each and Maliena Carelli notched two hits. On the Juanita side of the plate, Sasha Mitchell homered and singled for three RBIs, Mackenzie Burke had two singles and Kaci Gordon doubled.
