Lake Sammamish girls lacrosse team advances to state final

The Lake Sammamish girls' lacrosse team, which has players from Lake Washington High School, knocked off state power Lakeside, 14–8, in a state semifinal showdown Tuesday at the Lakeside School in Seattle.

The Lake Sammamish girls lacrosse team, which has five players from Lake Washington High School, knocked off state power Lakeside, 14–8, in a state semifinal showdown Tuesday at the Lakeside School in Seattle.

With the win, Lake Sammamish advances to Saturday’s championship game against Bainbridge, which is making its ninth straight trip to the state title game. The title game will be at 2 p.m. at Eastside Catholic School.

Lake Sammamish, making its second appearance in the title game, ended Lakeside’s seven-year string of championship-game appearances.

Lake Sammamish got scoring from eight different players with Katelyn Chirichigno leading the way with three goals. Alexandra Johnson, Lake Washington High School senior Erin Saunderson, Ali Savage and Emily Sokol each scored two goals.

Lakeside was led by Rebecca Long and Natalie Fox with three goals each.

Lake Sammamish, which won the Snoqualmie Conference with a 10-2-0 regular-season record, is now 13-2-0 after beating Evergreen, Snohomish and Lakeside in the state playoffs.
