Kirkland women’s tennis team finishes second at USTA National Championships

The women’s tennis team from Kirkland, representing the USTA Pacific Northwest Section, finished second at the USTA League Adult 55 and Over 7.0 National Championships held at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.

The women’s tennis team from Kirkland, representing the USTA Pacific Northwest Section, finished second at the USTA League Adult 55 and Over 7.0 National Championships held at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.

The Kirkland team lost to a team from Scottsdale, Ariz., 2-1 in the championship match. Earlier in the day, the Kirkland team defeated a team from Oceanside, N.Y., 2-1 in the semifinals. The Kirkland team advanced this far by winning their round-robin flight contested Friday and Saturday.

The team is captained by Nancy Foote Edwards, also features Valarie Kaye, Lanise Laffoon, Noriko Uehara, Linda Elefante, Cindy Hutter and Maren Holmquist Gibson, and plays at the Eastside Tennis Center.
