The Kangaroos certainly aren’t out of magic for the year.

Kevin Nakahara hit a walk-off single on Saturday in the first round of the 3A KingCo tournament at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue, lifting the Lake Washington High baseball team to a 3-2 win over Interlake and a place in the league title game.

The Kangs (19-2) rallied from a first-inning deficit, scoring two runs in the sixth inning to snap a shutout bid from Interlake’s Steve Emanuals. Nation Woods, in as a courtesy runner for reliever Paul Falco, scored on a wild pitch to get Lake Washington on the board.

Justin Amundsen scored following a single from Jake Wikel a few minutes later, giving the Kangs their first lead.

Interlake tied the game on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh, but allowed Lake Washington to lead off the bottom of the seventh with loaded bases and no outs.

Austin Lively had the best day batting for the Kangs, going 3-4. Jake Steele went 2-3 with one run scored.

Nick Ludwig picked up the win for Lake Washington, going six innings with five hits, eight strikeouts and four walks. Falco came on in relief.

Next, Lake Washington is scheduled to play Mercer Island in the 3A KingCo title game at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10 at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue. The winner automatically advances to the 3A state tournament.
