Tori Bivens needed to put in not one, but two stints to help the Kangaroos finish off Sammamish on Wednesday.

Bivens pitched the first four and one-third innings and stepped on for the final at-bat of the game as the Lake Washington High softball team survived a late rally to beat Sammamish 6-4 on May 4 at Sammamish High School in Bellevue.

The Kangaroos (15-3 overall, 15-1) effectively clinched the No. 1 seed for the upcoming KingCo 3A tournament.

After throwing more than four innings with seven strikeouts, one hit and no walks, Bivens stepped out of the circle for Jane Wilson.

The Totems pounced, netting a pair of RBI singles and a hit batter with the bases loaded and two outs, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Bivens returned and delivered a groundout to Hannah Steele at second base.

Hannah Walker had a big day offensively for the Kangaroos, hitting three doubles and finishing 3-4 from the plate with three RBIs.

Next, Lake Washington is scheduled to play Liberty at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 6 at Lake Washington High School.
