Kangs’ Dunlap shuts out Ballard for baseball’s first in-league win

The Lake Washington baseball team continued to silence hitters Tuesday, shutting out Ballard 2-0 at Whitman Baseball Field.

Trevor Dunlap needed just 86 pitches to dominate the Beavers, going seven innings, striking out four, allowing just two base hits and walking no one. The senior retired 15 of the final 16 hitters, allowing just one runner past first base. Dunlap now has 11 straight shutout innings to start the season.

Dunlap had to wait until the fifth inning for some help from his offense, as Ballard’s Charlie Baeudoin matched him pitch-for-pitch. The Kangs scored one run during the fifth inning, as John Shimabukuro drew a bases loaded walk. Lake Washington tacked on another run during the seventh, as senior Colin Tremblay hit an RBI single to secure the victory.

The Kangs are 1-0 in league-play and 3-2 overall on the season.

The Kangs will have a first pitch of 7 p.m. for their game Thursday, as they host Roosevelt.
