Kangs buck Roughriders behind Guisness

The Lake Washington boys basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Skyline to start the second half of the season but bounced back to defeat Roosevelt Friday.

Against the Spartans, Lake Washington fell behind to start the game, trailing 31-25 at the half. But the Kangs offense began hitting shots during the third quarter to regain the lead 44-42. But Skyline narrowly pulled out the game during the fourth quarter.

Lake Washington was led by Dallas Searless (16), Matt Staudacher (12) and Ryan Guisness (11).

The Kangs bucked the Roughriders on Friday, 68-55, behind a very even handed offense. The emotional low from Tuesday may have hurt the Kangs, as they began the game slow, scoring just nine points during the first quarter. But the team picked it up behind Guisness’ 23 points, scoring nearly 20 points during each of the final three quarters. Despite Guisness’ performance, the Kangs’ offense did a good job of distributing the ball as nine different players scored. Roosevelt had just five players score, but two had over 20 points.
