Despite winning three of four singles matches in a 3A Kingco tennis showdown against Mount Si on Tuesday, the Rebel boys got swept in doubles to fall to the Wildcats, 4-3.

Highlights for the Rebels included Bill Narita at No. 1 singles beating Josh Hamann 6-2, 6-2; Mark Stevens outlasting Kevin McLaughlin in a tough second set to win 6-4, 7-6 (7-4); and Colin Pate winning a three-set thriller that went to two tiebreakers 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (10-8).

Also on Tuesday, Lake Washington salvaged one match against Mercer Island in a 6-1 defeat.

Winning for the Kangs was No. 4 singles Jeremy Sacks, beating Josh Hartmann 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

 

Rebel volleyball swept by Liberty

Playing in a 3A Kingco matchup, Juanita’s volleyball team couldn’t keep up with Liberty on Tuesday night at home, losing 3-0 on game scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-14.

Juanita (0-3) will be searching for its first win against Bellevue on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Bellevue High School.

 

Juanita girls’ soccer stifled by Mount Si

In their 3A Kingco league opener on Tuesday night at Mount Si, the Juanita girls’ soccer team fell to the Wildcats 3-1.

Juanita fell behind 2-0 in the first half and faced a three-goal deficit after K.K. Wallace scored in the 53rd minute, with the Rebels’ Zoe Thomas scoring unassisted in the closing minutes to avoid the shutout.

With the loss, the Rebels dropped to 1-1-0 on the season.
