The Juanita High School softball team got back on track Tuesday with an 8-1 victory against Bellevue. The team came back Wednesday to score 16 runs against Liberty for a second-consecutive victory.
Juanita starting pitcher Allison Rhodes gave up a rare first-inning run but settled down to throw seven innings against Bellevue. Rhodes gave up just two hits during the game and struck out 14 batters for the win.
The Rebels exploded during the fifth inning, scoring five runs, and then added three more during the sixth.
At the plate, Juanita was led by Rachel O’Neil, who was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI.
Against the Patriots, the Rebels went scoreless again during the first inning but pounded the ball for four runs in the second, five in the third, three in the fourth and four in the fifth to end the game via mercy rule.
Juanita collected 16 hits along with way.
Keana Miller held the big bat for the Rebels, going 5-for-5 with six RBI. Molly Steck and Amanda Tsujikawa both had two RBI each.
Rhodes threw four of the five innings, giving up just one run, while collecting nine strikeouts for the win.
