Juanita girls lose to Bellevue and Mount Si

The Juanita High School girls basketball team was beat by Bellevue Thursday, 51-47, and Mount Si Friday, 45-44, despite two big fourth-quarter comebacks.

Against the Wildcats, Juanita began the game with a sense of urgency during the consolation final of the 3A KingCo tournament. The Rebels pulled out to a 21-15 lead by half time and seemed to be in control of the game. But a disastrous third quarter would be too much for the Rebels to overcome, as the Wildcats outscored them 21-8.

Juanita made a charge during the fourth period but came just one point shy of tying the game.

Kate Cryderman had one of her best games of the year during the contest, matching her season high point total by scoring 18. But the Wildcats shutdown most of the other Juanita players, making the Rebels one dimesnional.

Juanita got off to a quick start against Bellevue, pulling out to a 10-7 first-quarter lead, but the Wolverines came storming back to outscore the Rebels 20-15 to take a two-point lead into half time.

But the third quarter proved to be decisive as Bellevue held Juanita to just six points, extending its lead to 13 points. Juanita made a run at a comeback during the fourth quarter but came up just short.

The Rebels were led by Cryderman (13 points) and Kimberly Baba (11).
