Juanita football beats Inglemoor 21-17

Advancing to a 2-0 season the Juanita Rebels beat Inglemoor in their first home game of the season Friday. The Rebels beat the Vikings in the non conference match 21-17. Inglemoor struck first in the first quarter off a 20 yard field goal by Rick Gombatz. Juanita followed suite, but with a 5-yard touchdown run from Charles Benjamin to take the early 7-3 lead.

Inglemoor struck first in the first quarter off a 20 yard field goal by Rick Gombatz. Juanita followed suite, but with a 5-yard touchdown run from Charles Benjamin to take the early 7-3 lead.

In the second quarter Junior Vi made a 30-yard run for a touchdown for the Vikings, once again taking the lead away from the Rebels, but Juanita soon got it back. Siti Tamaivena made the 1-yard run after a long drive down the field to give the Rebels the top score.

Towards the end of the half Todd Raynes caught a 42-yard pass from Mitchell Gunsolus for Inglemoor, giving them the 17-14 lead over Juanita at the break.

It was a long and scoreless third quarter for both teams, before Juanita’s Jeremiah Laufasa scored off a 2-yard run to give the Rebels the win.

Juanita will face Mercer Island at home on Thursday, Sept. 16 starting at 7 p.m. The Islanders enter the contest with a 1-1 record.
