The Juanita High football team escaped the city of Bellevue with a win on Friday, Oct. 21, edging Interlake 32-24 to nail down the top conference playoff seed.

The Rebels (3-1 KingCo, 4-3) led 19-11 at halftime and are guaranteed the top playoff seed from the conference as undefeated Bellevue remains ineligible for postseason play.

Andrez Trahan scored on a 5-yard run late in the game to ice the win for Juanita, which has won three straight after starting the year 1-3.

“Our kids are playing the way we want them to play,” said Juanita coach Lele Teo. “Tonight was one of those things where it was closer than people thought it should have been, but we went in here knowing that when the kids have a day off we can come out flat.”

“We also knew Interlake was good, and they came out and played like crazy.”

Senior All-American Salvon Ahmed scored three touchdowns, two coming in the first half, and now has 12 scores on the year. Ahmed also came up with an interception to end the game.

Next, Juanita is scheduled to close out the regular season against Mercer Island on Friday, Oct. 21 at Bergh Field in Kirkland.
