Marysville-Getchell (1-0) scored in the first and third quarters for a 15-7 win over Lake Washington (0-1).

Kang senior Colby Coco collected a pass from quarterback Adam Long in the second quarter for Lake Washington’s only touchdown.

Long completed 14 of 32 passing attempts for 125 yards, hitting Coco eight times for a team-high 78 yards.

Reece Rudolph was Lake Washington’s leading rusher with 35 yards on 13 carries, but the Kangs finished with zero net yards on the ground.

Rudy Wilkes, the senior linebacker, led the team with seven tackles, one tackle for loss and one interception.

“The defense played really well, even though they were in bad situations a lot of the night,” coach AJ Parnell said. “They really rallied, and there were some good things there. Offensively, we have stuff we can work on. We’re young up front, and we will get better.”

Next, Lake Washington is scheduled to play Inglemoor in a nonconference game at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9 at Mac Field. The Vikings lost, 22-21, to Cascade on Sept. 2 in Everett.
