Over the last several weeks, few baseball players have come up clutch more often than Juanita High’s Christian Blackburn.
On Friday evening, Blackburn hit a walk-off single as the Juanita High baseball team beat Bellevue 1-0. It’s his third walk off of the season, following a walk off double against Sammamish on April 15
The Rebels (7-11 overall, 7-9) were badly in need of a win coming in, riding a three-game losing skid and in danger out slipping further in the standings. Now, with two games remaining in the regular season, Juanita sits in a three-way tie with Liberty and Interlake.
Juanita certainly waited long enough to make a move on Friday. Bellevue (7-10, 6-9) held the Rebels to only four hits in the first six innings before Dexter Mell tripled to lead off the bottom of the seventh.
Two batters were intentionally walked with no outs, bringing Blackburn up for a line drive to center field.
Carter Rusch pitched a complete-game two-hitter, striking out five batters and walking five.
Next, Juanita is scheduled to take on Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at Liberty High School.
