Thumbs up, thumbs down

Thumbs up to the Kirkland Cultural Council for their diligence in attempting to fill our empty downtown storefronts with artists. A win/win for everyone.

Thumbs up to all business owners who sweep their sidewalks and pick up their parking lots on a daily basis.

Thumbs up to people who really try to do their shopping in Kirkland.

Thumbs up to people who support non-profits and get involved in the community.

Thumbs up to KDOG members who pushed for – and are getting – an off-leash dog park in Kirkland.

Thumbs up to the Juanita High School football team, which qualified for the playoff for the first time in 16 years. GO REBELS!!!

Thumbs down to K-TOWN. Dress code enforced: come looking good? The pictures of go-go dancers and kids grinding are real encouraging.

Thumbs down to neighbors who begin their noisy work projects (hammering) before 8 in the a.m. Same for the super-efficient neighbors who drag their empty garbage cans back up their driveways as early as 7 a.m.

Thumbs down to the city and or state for not removing the sign on N.E. 85th Street that directs people to a licensing office that no longer exists.

Thumbs down to election officials who were not prepared at King County polling offices to handle in-person voting for those who did not recieve ballots in the mail. Some residents had to wait up to three and a half hours to vote.

The Reporter publishes reader thumbs up and thumbs down on a space-available basis. Send yours to letters@kirklandreporter.com.
