At groundbreaking, city officials did not mention traffic issues | Letter

Isn't it great that Kirkland city officials welcomed the ground breaking of the new Village at Totem Lake, with not a single word mentioning the increased traffic that this development will generate on nearby roadways.

Planned are 855 residential units and 1700 parking spaces.

Remember that city officials have touted the 900 feet of new road in this area as a cure-all for our clogged traffic. Or maybe everyone using this new mall is to get there on their bikes? What a joke that is.

All the city wants is increased sales tax revenue and we will pay for this increase in time lost and gasoline wasted. Isn’t time to mandate increased traffic capacity in this city?
