Thomas Michael Vaux

Thomas Michael Vaux

June 3, 1957 – October 21, 2014

Tom was born and raised in Kirkland. He attended Holy Family grade school and Jr. High and graduated from Seattle Preparatory. Having spent a year as an exchange student, Tom developed a love of the Spanish language and traveled extensively throughout South America.

After college, Tom worked many years developing a sports surface that is used on running tracks and is being installed in hospitals and various institutions. Ever the entrepreneur, he founded the company SA-Tech and holds several patents. Tom was granted a full scholarship to the Univ. of WA and went on to receive a master’s in business finance. Tom frequently worked as an interpreter for those seeking financial aid.

Tom will be remembered for his innate understanding and empathy towards the struggles of others. He would give anything needed to those he was close to and spent countless hours fixing computers for family and friends. Tom loved research and knowledge and would pour himself into whatever difficulty his loved ones were experiencing; talking, encouraging, coming over at any hour, making himself versed in the situation.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Vaux, parents James and Helen Vaux, his brother, Jim Vaux, sisters: Katie Tormey, Teresa Vaux-Michel, Suzie Fahling, a multitude of nieces and nephews, and three great nieces.

May his memory be eternal. Service and Mass to be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Kirkland, November 7 at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in memory of Tom, to Holy Family Church.
