Shirley was an avid outdoors person. She enjoyed camping, day hiking, gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and golfing. She traveled to nearly every state and internationally to over 25 countries.

Volunteering was a special part of her life. Shirley gave her time to PTA, Cub Scouts, 4-H, Eastside Handicappers, her church, and as a tour guide at Burke Museum, University of Washington.

Shirley wrote the “Rambling on Rose Hill” column for the Eastside Journal, Kirkland’s weekly newspaper. She wrote a book called“ In Christian Fellowship” the history of her Kirkland Congregational Church.

A private memorial will be held by the family beside Mount Rainier, her favorite place to visit.
