OLE RISA

Ole Risa was born in Sandnes, Norway on June 15, 1927. He was a long time Kirkland resident and passed away at age 90 on April 9, 2018.

Ole settled in the United States and proudly served in the US Army. Ole married Inger Marie in 1956 and had two children. He worked in construction and spent his summers in Alaska building canneries and commercial fishing. Ole always had a smile on his face and a Norwegian song in his heart. He will always be remembered as “Poppy”.

Ole is survived by his children, Steve Risa (Kathy), Debbie Corby (Wade); four grandchildren, Melissa Bean (Michael), Grant Corby (Natalie), Allison and Erik Risa, and three great grandchildren, Lucas, Brooklyn, and Kellan.

Family and friends can pay their respects at the military honors service on July, 10 at 1:30 PM at Tahoma National Cemetery – 18600 SE 240th Street in Kent. The service will be followed by a celebration of life at Lake Wilderness Lodge – 22500 SE 248th Street in Maple Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the American Heart Association.
