Kirkland firefighters are investigating the death of an elderly woman as the result of a fire in her home on Finn Hill Friday morning.
According to Fire Marshall BC Walker, firefighters were dispatched to the call on the 8600 block of NE 124th Street at around 7 a.m. Fire units from Kenmore and the Northshore Fire Department were also eventually sent to put out the fire.
It is not known at this time what caused the fire, which is estimated to have caused $250,000 in damage to the house.
The victim, who was found already dead on the second floor by firefighters, was said to have been a long-time resident of the house. The house has had a long history of poor upkeep, according to Walker. The identification of the victim will be released by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office once an autopsy has been performed.
Until the cause of the fire is determined by investigators it is being treated as a crime scene.
