Suspect uses blowtorch to steal $300 worth of quarters | Police Blotter

Feb. 28

Cash drawer theft: At 1:09 a.m. in the 12500 block of Northeast 85th Street, a subject used a pry bar to open a cash drawer and steal the interior drawer at a Safeway location. The drawer had about $300-$400 in cash. The suspect exited the store and left in a dark colored four-door sedan. There are no suspects.

Vacation time: At 8:53 a.m. in the 14100 block of 125th Place Northeast, a victim reported an unknown subject used an old credit card number of theirs to book a reservation at a La Quinta Inn, in Cutler Bay, Florida. The victim did not lose any money and was not billed, however, he was alerted that his expired credit card number was used.

Return to roots: At 10:24 a.m. in the 12000 block of Northeast 85th Street, a young, brown and white husky wandered into a Petco alone with a red harness. The pup was micro-chipped, but it had not yet been registered. The puppy was held at the police department.

Workout wallet theft: At 2:41 p.m. in the 12300 block 120th Place Northeast, a caller reported that someone took their wallet from the locker room at the Totem Lake L.A. Fitness locker room while they were changing.

Road rage: At 5:06 p.m. in the 500 block of 8th Avenue, a road-rage incident evolved into a physical altercation. It occurred in the roadway, after a verbal exchange. One of the subjects placed the other in a choke-hold, leaving marks on his neck. The subject performing the headlock also dislocated his shoulder. The choke-hold assailant was charged with assault in the fourth degree.

March 1

Purses taken: At 5:11 p.m. in the 12500 block of Totem Lake Boulevard Northeast, a suspect entered Nordstrom Rack and shoplifted about $360 dollars worth of purses after he cut the security cords. He returned the next day and stole sunglasses and was taken into custody.

Manager slapped: At 6:35 p.m. in the 100 block of Central Way, an unknown female entered the business and was verbal with staff. When they were leaving, the unknown suspect slapped the manager on the side of the head and left on foot. The manager sustained no injuries from the slap. An area check was done, but the female was not located. The manager requested that the suspect be trespassed if they were found.

March 3

Burglary: At 11:36 a.m. in the 9400 block of Northeast 129th Place, a subject was woken up at around 3 a.m. to his dogs barking. Nothing seemed strange and the subject went back to bed. When he woke up, he discovered there were pry marks and frame damage to their front door. The gate to his backyard was also bent and the bottom latch was no longer working. No entry was made and nothing was taken. There was no suspect information available.

Blowtorch persistence: At 5:14 p.m. in the 10100 block of Northeast 64th Street, a suspect stole quarters from six of eight laundry machines at the Sunset Shores Apartments. They also took the light switch, and disabled the smoke detector so they could use a block torch on the change machine to open the door and steal the cash inside. About $300 was taken and $1,200 done in damage. There were no signs of forced entry and no suspect information.
